Liberty Mutual’s Responsible Sports ProgramResponsibleSports

The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) has partnered with Liberty Mutual Insurance to bring the youth softball community Responsible SportsTM, a program dedicated to championing and celebrating responsibility in youth sports. We believe that some of the most influential individuals in young people's lives are parents and youth sports coaches. Responsible Sports provides valuable resources and expert advice to youth sport parents. Visit ResponsibleSports.com to find out how to further improve upon their commitment to being a positive role model in the lives of youth athletes.

The youth softball community, including coaches, parents, administrators and volunteers, is encouraged to visit ResponsibleSports.com, where they will find parenting resources, helpful tips, expert advice and community spaces to share ideas and opinions. Parents can participate in the Responsible Parenting coursework to become recognized as a Responsible Sports All-Star.

Responsible Sports Community Grants
Looking for ways to help raise money for your youth softball organization? From equipment upgrades and facility repairs to scholarship programs for families in need of assistance, the $100,000 Liberty Mutual has awarded to date has improved the lives of many youth athletes and families. Your league can join the excitement, while learning how to teach valuable lessons and enrich the lives of players through positive role modeling.

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Go to ResponsibleSports.com and search for your youth sports organization. If your organization is not listed, alert your administrator to register.
  2. Complete the Responsible Sport Parenting or Responsible Coaching coursework and pass the ten-question quiz to receive your certification.
  3. Make sure to credit your certification to your youth sports organization to earn a point toward the grant.
  4. Rally other parents, coaches and administrators to participate in the program by downloading the promotional materials on the site and spreading the word.

Remember, the more people that participate in the program, the better your chances are of earning a Responsible Sports Community Grant! Learn more. >>

Did you know? Liberty Mutual offers two Responsible Sports Community Grant periods per year. And your certifications are valid for two grant periods. So, if you received your certification last fall and your organization wasn’t one of the 20 winners, your certification is still valid for the current Community Grant period. Go to the All-Star Login to view the status of your certifications.

Responsible Coaching Awards

Summer Responsible Coaching Award nominations are now being accepted! The Responsible Coaching Awards recognize 50 youth sports coaches around the country (one in each state) and are now being offered twice annually. The Awards celebrate coaches who demonstrate responsibility, integrity, commitment and excellence to youth athletes, both on and off the field. View our past winners in the Winner’s Circle!

Youth softball coaches, parents, administrators and volunteers are encouraged to visit ResponsibleSports.com this month to nominate a Responsible Coach who has made a difference in your community!

Winners will receive a $250 gift card, personalized Responsible Coaching trophy from Liberty Mutual, as well as special recognition on the Responsible Sports and ASA Softball websites. Learn more. >>
